Ekiti Election: Pregnant Women Not in EFCC Custody, Suspects Held By Court Order

The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to some reports in a section of the media, alleging that the Commission is detaining “a pregnant woman, nursing mother, others, over vote - buying", consequent on some arrests made in the wake of the recent governorship election in Ekiti State.
The Commission wishes to state that there is no iota of truth in the reports. There is no pregnant woman among the suspects arrested on allegation of vote buying during the Ekiti governorship election. A pregnancy test conducted on all female suspects arrested during the Ekiti governorship poll at the Kwara State Hospital, Ilorin, returned negative.
EFCC Arraigns Two for N3.1m Fraud in Maiduguri

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, June 27, 2022, arraigned one Peter Ennemakwu Agbenyo before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court on one count charge of cheating to the tune of N1, 800,000.00 (One Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira).
The charge read: "That you, Peter Ennemakwu Agbenyo sometime in March, 2020 in Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly induced Okwor Nkemakonam Paul to deliver to you the sum of N1,800,000.00 (One Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) via your account number 2138971646 domiciled with UBA Plc under the guise that the said amount represent payment for purchase of Toyota Corolla 2010 which you are yet to deliver and thereby committed and an offence contrary to Section 320 (a) and Punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code Cap 102 Laws of Borno State.”
Cyber-Fraud: Three Convicted, Forfeit N17.2m in Oyo

A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday, June 24, 2022 convicted the trio of Olashoju Mohammed Abiodun, Eniatimo Oludare Samson and Olaniran Abiodun for internet-related fraud.
The convicts were arraigned on separate one count charges each for offences relating to cyber-fraud.

The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on June 23, 2022 arraigned one Babawale Daniel Olayinka before Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, on five count charges which borders on cybercrime.
An identity card recovered from the defendant at the point of arrest on February 11, 2022, introduced him as a “Personal Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Media Matters.” He was arrested alongside twenty-five others at Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
EFCC Charges Other Anti-Graft Agencies On Implementation of National Anti-Corruption Strategy.

Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has called on all Anti-corruption Agencies in Nigeria to key into the implementation of the National Anti-corruption Strategy, NACS.
He made the call on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Public Presentation of the 2021 Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Examiners of Nigeria, CIFCFEN, Country Report at the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja.
Bawa says that, since the NACS represents one of the cardinal points of President Mohammadu Buhari administration’s resolve to combat corruption in Nigeria, there is need for frequent reviews to identify and tackle any gap in the fight against corruption.
