One Convicted for Cybercrime in Oyo

An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, convicted and sentenced one Olanipekun Adams Abolade to six months imprisonment for cyber-fraud.
The convict who was arraigned on one count charge which bordered on impersonation, contrary to Section 484 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 38, Oyo State, pleaded guilty to the charge upon his arraignment by the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
EFCC Cautions Youths Against Fraudulent Use of ICT

Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa has cautioned youths across the country against fraudulent use of Information and Communication Technology, ICT, urging them to be more creative and problem-solvers for the overall good of the country.
Bawa made the appeal on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the Grand Finale of Girls in ICT ConnectLive Season 6, held at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. According to him, there are ample opportunities and possibilities that can be explored on the internet without necessarily breaking any law.
EFCC Charges Women On Involvement in Fight Against Economic and Financial Crimes

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has called on women across the country to show more commitment and dedication to the fight against economic and financial crimes.
This call was made in Abuja on Thursday, June 9, 2022 by the Secretary to the EFCC, Mr. George Ekpungu while receiving the delegation of the National Council for Women`s Societies, NCWS, at the Commission’s Headquarters. According to him, women are better equipped to influence their men against any form of corrupt practices and should work better to separate themselves and people around them from fraudulent dealings.
Court Convicts Man for Fraud in Maiduguri

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, June 16, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Bulama Modu before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri on one count charge of cheating and criminal breach of trust to the tune of N600, 000.00.
The charge reads: "That you, Bulama Modu, sometime in 2018, at Borno State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did dishonestly misappropriated the gross sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira(N600,000.00) only being the value for a plot of land situated at Muna Village of Jere Local Government Area of Borno State belonging to Alhaji Ibrahim Jibril who entrusted you to take care of the said plot of land for him and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 308 of the Penal Code Cap. 102 Laws of Borno State of Nigeria and punishable under section 309 of the same law.”
EFCC Arraigns Man for Possession of Counterfeit Currency in Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Wednesday June 15, 2022 arraigned one Suleiman Habu before Justice J. E. Inyang of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano.
The defendant was arrested following an intelligence report on his alleged dealing in counterfeit currency. Upon his arrest by the Kano Zonal Command of the Commission, Eighty Thousand CFA was recovered from him.
