Human Rights Commission Visits Gombe Zonal Command

The Gombe Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday May 25, 2022 played host to officials of the National Human Rights Commission who were at the Command as part of a nationwide statutory audit of Correctional/Custodial Centres and other detention facilities.
The team led by Mrs. Jitau Atiwurcha was received by the Deputy Zonal Commander, ACE 11 Effa Imoh Okim and other staff of the Command.
Court Jails Three Internet Fraudsters in Uyo

Justice Toyin Bolaji Adegoke of the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom has convicted and sentenced three internet fraudsters: Onyemaechi Martins Chikere, Tochukwu ThankGod Amuzie and Promise Okon to one-year imprisonment each, without an option of fine, for offences bordering on criminal impersonation.
They were jailed on Wednesday, May 24, 2022 after pleading guilty to one-count separate charge preferred against them by the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Court Jails Two Internet Fraudsters in Benin

Two internet fraudsters, Favour Aigbido and Obehi Oamen Kingsley were on Wednesday May 25, 2022, convicted and sentenced to prison by Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City.
The duo were arraigned by the Benin Zonal Command of the Commission on a separate one count charge of fraudulent impersonation.
Aigbido falsely represented himself as Ahmad Michael, a Bitcoin miner, while Kingsley impersonated the identity of Chen Dale, a Japanese Engineer, to defraud unsuspecting victims.
Two Convicted in Oyo, One in Osun for Internet Fraud

An Oyo State High Court, on Tuesday May 24, 2022, convicted the duo of Timothy Oluwaseun Oni and Abdulwahab Oladimeji Muhammed on a separate one count amended charge bordering on criminal impersonation.
The court presided over by Justice Bayo Taiwo, convicted the defendants after they pleaded “guilty” to the charges preferred against them by the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Justice Taiwo, after considering the the facts of the cases and the evidence by the prosecution, held that the prosecution had proved the cases and sentenced the convicts to six months community service each.
EFCC Arraigns Company, Director for N151m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, arraigned Micad Project City Services Limited and James Nolan before Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja on a 20-count charge of obtaining by false pretense, non-compliance with the Money Laundering Act 2011 (as amended) and criminal conversion of proceeds of crime to the tune N151,394,328.00 (One Hundred and Fifty-one Million, Three Hundred and Ninety-four Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty-eight Naira).
James Nolan, a director of the company and signatory to its account, allegedly obtained by false pretense the sum of N151, 394,328.00 from the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
