Senate Commends EFCC’S 2017 Budget Performance

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has received commendation from the Senate for the performance of its 2017 budget.
Senator Godfrey Chukwuka Utazi, Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, gave the commendation during the 2017 budget evaluation at the National Assembly, Abuja.
“The budget year hasn't been easy for everybody, but we appreciate all the Commission has done so far in the fight against corruption in the country”, he said.
Utazi, who commended the numerous achievements of the anti-graft agency, urged it not to despair in its efforts to rid the nation of economic and financial crimes adding that “corruption fight is a thankless job”.

Again, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, wishes to alert members of the public about the activities of some persons who have been dropping the name of its Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, and extorting unsuspecting members of the public. Members of the syndicate have been parading themselves as either close friends or members of the Magu family. They have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public on the pretext that they were acting on behalf of the acting chairman. This is in spite of repeated warnings by the Commission, that the acting chairman has not mandated anybody to solicit for bribes on his behalf.
EFCC Releases Innoson on Bail

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released Nnewi, Anambra-State born Industrialist, Chief Innocent Chukwuma on bail. The business man who runs a local auto assembly plant was arrested on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at his Enugu residence, following his refusal to respond to invitations by the Commission, after initially being granted administrative bail by the Commission, while his surety could also not be found.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today December 19, 2017, arraigned the trio of Muhammed Ali, Nasiru Sirajo and Muntari Sulaiman before Justice Bako Maikaita of the Katsina State High Court on a six -count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and Issuance of dud cheque.
