The 56th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association came to an end August 26, in Port Harcourt with the bar making pronouncements on major issues of national importance. One of the new commitments as articulated by the new President of the Association, Mr. Abubakar Mahmoud, SAN, is to reinvent the association by reclaiming its moral high ground through a campaign for ethical rectitude by members of the bar.

The Assistant Corps Marshal and Zonal Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC Zone 6, Jonas Agwu has pledged the support and cooperation of the FRSC to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. He made the pledge on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, while paying a courtesy visit to the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Commission.

The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to the editorial of Thisday Newspaper of August 23, 2016 titled “The Death of Citizen Nunugwo”.
The attempt by Thisday to call attention to the unfortunate incident of the sudden death of Nunugwo, a fraud suspect of the EFCC in the said editorial appears salutary, on the surface, as the public deserves to be properly informed on the circumstances leading to his death. The EFCC appreciates this fact, and has never shied away from sharing information regarding the sad occurrence with the public.

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has stated that Nigerians will no longer be held hostage by the twin evils of corruption and impunity. He assured that the Commission under his watch would challenge anyone, including certain senior lawyers, judges and other judicial officers, against whom concrete evidence for perverting the course of justice had been established.
