The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 arraigned Aderemi Aderounmu before Justice S.S Ogunsanya of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on a 3-count charge bordering on conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence, contrary to Section 8 (a) and 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006.

Few days after his disclosure that the National Assembly are working on a bill that will ensure a first line charge funding of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Senator Victor Lar has again reiterated the law makers' resolve to amend the EFCC Act to ensure direct statutory allocation to the agency in line with international best practice.

Justice Lateefa Okunnu of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, told a former managing director of Finbank Plc (now First City Monument Bank), Mr Okey Nwosu, and three former Directors of the bank: Dayo Famoroti, Danjuma Ocholi and Agnes Ebubedike, who are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for a N19.2 billion scam, that they have a case to answer and should be prepared to open their defense.
