The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, arraigned one Fidelis Umukoro alongside his company, Raremax Global Investments Limited.
They were arraigned before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a five-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of N164, 960,829 (One Hundred and Sixty-four Million, Nine Hundred and Sixty Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-nine Naira).
Umukoro and Raremax Global Investments Limited, sometime in the month of March 2018, in Lagos, within the Ikeja judicial division, stole the sum of N164, 960, 829 (One Hundred and Sixty-four Million, Nine Hundred and Sixty Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-nine Naira), being property of A & P Foods Limited, thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 411of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, Ngupe Tertsua, asked for a trial date, and also prayed the court to remand the defendant in the Nigerian Correctional Services.
The defence counsel, P. Ogunnubi, told the court about a pending application for bail for his client.
Consequently, Justice Dada granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250 million, with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties must be resident in Lagos and their addresses be verified by the Court Registrar.
The Judge also ruled that evidence of identification of the sureties must be provided to the court.
The defendant was ordered to submit his passport to the court.
Justice Dada adjourned the case to April 28 and 29, 2020 for commencement of trial and also ordered the defendant to be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service, Kirikiri, pending the perfection of his bail conditions.
