The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, have agreed to strengthen collaboration existing between the two Agencies and eradicate administrative bottlenecks in information dissemination in order to tackle corrupt practices more effectively.
This commitment was stated when the Rivers State Director, Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, Mrs. Sotonye Isokariari, paid a Courtesy Visit to the Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Ahmed 1 .M. Ghali. She disclosed that the two anti- corruption bodies have always enjoyed a good relationship but there is need for a closer and more robust working relationship for exchange of sensitive information and materials on fraudulent activities.
"One thing that is lacking is this collaboration. "If there is good synergy, we will not have issues with our work, especially concerning high profile cases. But if we can collaborate well. We can move forward", she said.
Responding, Ghali thanked the State Director for the visit and promised that the EFCC will strengthen the existing collaboration between the two Agencies.
"Thank you so much for coming, we are highly grateful. Concerning what you have said, I think we need to improve more on it. If I can remember very well, we are doing our duty together, but I also think we need to improve. Synergy is good, as you rightly said. We need good collaboration. Things that we do, you can't do them and what you can, we can't do them, which is why we need to do our best to improve the system", he said.
Ghali also stated that the EFCC will join hands with CCB, especially when it comes to asset declaration, in order to fish out some unscrupulous elements diverting the resources of the country for their personal gains
