Court Jails Man Six Months for Fraud in Makurdi

The Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday April 29, 2022, secured the conviction of one Damian Oragbai Terhemba before Justice M. A. Ikpambese of the Benue State High Court sitting in Makurdi, on one count charge of misappropriation to the tune of N1,906,000 (One Million, Nine Hundred and Six Thousand Naira only).
The charge reads: "That you, Damian Oragbai Terhemba between 2017 and 2018 in Makurdi within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, being entrusted with the sum of N1,906,000 (One Million, Nine Hundred and Six Thousand Naira only) by one Iortule Aondowase for the purchase of a Toyota Corolla Car 2005 Model, dishonestly misappropriate the said sum and thereby committed an offence, contrary to Section 312 of the Penal Code (CAP) 124 Law of Benue State, and punishable under Section 313 of the same Law".

Abdulrasheed Bawa, Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday April 28, 2022, visited the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja to inspect facilities at the institution which were recently renovated.
Accompanied by the Commandant of the Academy, Commander of the EFCC, Ayo Olowonihi and other management staff, Bawa took a tour of the entire premises and was visibly impressed by the new look and ambience of the foremost law enforcement training institution.

Justice Fadima Murtala Aminu of the Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, on Thursday, April 28, 2022 reserved ruling on a trial within trial, in a case involving Dr. Abdu Bulama, former Minister of Science and Technology, standing trial for allegedly receiving the sum of N450m from Diezani Alison- Madueke, former Minister of Petroleum Resources, to influence the outcome of the 2015 Presidential Election.
Bulama was the coordinator of former President Goodluck Jonathan's 2015 Re-election Campaign Committee in Yobe State.
Court Jails Two Bankers for Stealing N2.9m from Dead Customer

Justice Elias Abua of the Cross River State High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, has convicted and sentenced two former bankers: Titus Chima Nwankwo and Utibe-Abasi Ifiok George for stealing the sum of N2,900,000( Two Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira only) from the account of a deceased customer of a commercial bank.
Nwankwo and George were jailed on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 after pleading guilty to one-count separate charges bordering on forgery, conspiracy, breach of trust and stealing, upon their arraignment by the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Border Patrol Team Hands Over Two Suspects Arrested With $285,000, CFA 18, 9million To EFCC

The Joint Border Patrol Team, comprising the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigerian Army, on Thursday, April 28, 2022, handed over the duo of Ismail Ajibade and John Adewumi, a Beninoise, who were arrested with $285,000( Two Hundred and Eighty-five Thousand Dollars) and CFA 18, 925,000( Eighteen Million Nine Hundred and Twenty-five CFA) to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
