The operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Saturday, March 19, 2022 arrested 17 internet fraud suspects known as Yahoo-Yahoo Boys, in Makurdi, Benue State.
The suspects include: Samuel C., Uvande A., Joseph G., Ageva A., Emmanuel O., Ochiwu M., Dominic O, Ikpema S, Otse A. and Aondowase T. Others are, Audu-war L., Terver J., Dav J., Moses V., Abdullahi A., Agehson O., and Andoaver T.

The trial of Patrick Akpobolokemi, a former Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and Ezekiel Bala Agaba before Justice R.I.B. Adebiyi of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja for an alleged N754.8 million fraud continued today, March 18, 2022, with the trial judge reserving ruling for May 6, 2022 on an application filed by the prosecution seeking to have its next witness based in the United States of America to testify through electronic means.
The defendants, who are alleged to have defrauded NIMASA, were initially charged alongside Governor Juan, Vincent Udoye, Ekene Nwakuche, Adegboyega Olopoenia and a company, Gama Marine Nigeria Ltd., before the charge was amended to involve only the two defendants.
EFCC Seeks Stronger Regional Anti- Corruption Efforts As Bawa Is Elected New NACIWA President

As a fresh move to bolster security and anti- corruption situations in the West- African sub- region, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has called for stronger and more effective modalities aimed at stemming the spate of illicit financial flows and other corrupt tendencies in the region.
This call was made on Monday, March 21, 2020 by the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, while addressing the 5th Annual General Assembly Meeting of the Network of National Anti- Corruption Institutions in West Africa, NACIWA, holding at Transcorp Hilton hotel, Abuja, Nigeria. Bawa, who is the newly elected President of the 16-nation member organisation, noted that the ECOWAS sub- region is smarting from the throes of security challenges and stressed that efforts must be made to block leakages arising from illicit financial dealings.
Man Bags 2 Years Jail Term For Land Scam In Uyo

Justice Agatha Okeke of the Federal High Court Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Wednesday March 15, 2022, convicted and sentenced Moses Asuquo Effiong to two years imprisonment for obtaining by false pretence.
Effiong was arraigned alongside two others by the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 26, 2020 for selling a piece of land belonging to someone else. They had pleaded not guilty to the two count charge preferred against them. But when the matter came up for hearing on Wednesday March 15, , Asuquo changed his plea to 'guilty'.
