EFCC Charges POS Operators on Due Diligence

The Maiduguri Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Onwukwe C. Obiora, today, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 charged the Point of Sale (POS) operators to carry out proper documentation of their clients before transactions are made as means of checking money laundering in the Northeast and Nigeria at large.
Obiora gave the charge when he received members of Association of Mobile Money Operators of Nigeria (AMMON), Borno State Chapter who paid a courtesy visit.
EFCC Docks Man in Maiduguri for Converting Land Document

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 arraigned one David Osigbe Irumekhai before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri on one count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust.
The defendant allegedly used the original title documents of a property kept in his custody for safe keeping to secure a loan of N2, 300, 000.00 (Two Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira).
EFCC Docks Two for Fraud in Makurdi

The Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 arraigned the duo of Okwuchukwu Charles and Saamuman Caleb Terungwa before Justice Moris Ikpambese of the Benue State High Court, Makurdi for alleged conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N5 million.
Count one of the charge reads, “That you Okwuchukwu Charles and you Saakuman Caleb Terungwa sometime in April, 2021, in Makurdi, Benue State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, conspired amongst yourselves and took the sum of N5, 523,000.00 (Five Million, Five Hundred and Twenty Three Thousand Naira) only belonging to Cosmic Intelligence Labs Limited without its consent thereby committed an offence contrary to section 97 and punishable under section 288 of the Penal Code cap. 124(Revised Edition), Laws of Benue 2004".
Cybercrime: EFCC Warns Hoteliers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has warned hotel owners across the country to be wary of allowing internet fraudsters to congregate or hibernate around their facilities. The Commission gave the warning on Tuesday September 14, 2021 on the heels on an operation by the Ibadan Zonal Command of the agency that led to the arrest of 56 suspected internet fraudsters in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
The suspects include: Garfar Olamide Taiwo, Fadimaye Habeeb, Badmus Idris, Samuel Victor, Seun Fuad, Alli Isaac, Oyeleke Mubarak, Bolu Soetan, Koleosho Eniola, Saheed Abidemi, Olaewe Tosin, Ayedun Idowu, Oniyitan Ayomide, Akinlabi Precious, Gbadebo Sultan, Adeyemi Habeeb, Balogun Hassan, Sulaimon Ayub Damilare, Akinsola Usman.
Two Students Imprisoned in Ilorin, Lose Cars to FG for Cybercrime

Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has sentenced two final year students of two tertiary institutions in Ilorin to various jail terms for offences bordering on cybercrime.
The convicts are Oyewale Wasiu Adetunji and Adebayo Ibrahim Abiodun, who are students of Kwara State University, KWASU, Molete and Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, respectively.
Also convicted alongside Oyewale and Adebayo was one Saheed Sikirullahi, who claimed to be a former student of Kwara Polytechnic, Ilorin.
