Fraud: Two Bankers for Stealing From the Dead

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Uyo Zonal Command, has secured the conviction of two bank officials, Daniel Akpan Eno and Mbuk Idongesit before Justice Edem Ita Kufre of the Cross River State High Court, Calabar for conspiracy and theft of funds in the account of a deceased customer of a commercial bank.
The duo were convicted on Wednesday August 4, 2021 after pleading guilty to separate one count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and fraudulent transfers. A third defendant, and alleged accomplice, Victor John Okon pleaded “not guilty”. His trial was adjourned till August 10, 2021 for consideration of bail application.
EFCC Arrests 41 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Owerri, Abuja

Operatives of the Enugu and Abuja Zonal Commands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, August 5, 2021 arrested 41 suspected internet fraudsters in separate operations in Owerri, Imo State and Abuja, Federal Capital Territory. Their arrest were made possible through creditable intelligence received on their alleged involvement in cybercrime.
The suspects arrested in Owerri, numbering 31, include Prince Chukwuemeka Mmirikwe, Onyeachilam James, Ekezier Israel Chidera, Victor Okeafor, Princewill Okoroji,Ozioma Amakodike, Chidebeere Ogu Emmanuel, Mbaeri Eze, Ogbonna Chikamso, Mark Unakalamba, Okebaram Uzoma, Okebaram Ugobueze Emmanuel, Okafor Daniel Uchechuku, Miracle Chukwu, Oparaukwu Udoka and Nwosu Jude.
Court Sends 16 Cyber Criminals to Jail in Port Harcourt

It was a harvest of convictions for the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday August 4, 2021 as 16 cyber criminals were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms by Justice Adamu Tukur Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The convicts are Saheed Ibrahim Odunayo, Oduwa Osagieduwa, Ahmed Rilwan, Okpodu Samson, Abimbola Akinboyejo, Akande Oluwaferanmi, Samson Fadugbagbe and Prince Ifeakachukwu Abandi. Others are Dogo Samson, Olurunlayo Busayo Adewale, Joshua Temiloluwa, Oniye Damilare, Oluwagbemiga Blessing, Lucky Morrison, Adekolurejo Femi James and Alasa Solomon.
The 16 convicts were arraigned on one count charge each for offences bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretences.
NBA Visits Enugu Zonal Command, Pledges Support in Fight Against Cybercrime

The Security Agencies Relations Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, Enugu Branch on Thursday August 5, 2021, paid a courtesy visit to the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The Committee led by ACP Ogechukwu Agbazue (rtd) disclosed that their mission was to join hands with the EFCC Enugu Zone to stamp out cybercrimes from the South East.
Man Convicted for Job Scam in Kaduna

The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on August 4, 2021 secured the conviction of one Gambo Suleiman before Justice M.T.M Aliyu of Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna for offences bordering on cheating.
The defendant who is a WAEC Supervisor at the Mando Custodial Centre, tricked his victim to part with N85, 000,000 over offer of non-existent job.
He was convicted and sentenced to a fine after pleading guilty to an amended one count charge.
