Court Adjourns John Abebe’s Forgery Trial Till Oct 22

The trial of John Warimeme Abebe for an alleged $4million fraud continued on Monday, August 2, 2021 before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, with the prosecution further cross-examining him.
Abebe was arraigned on July 26, 2018 on a four-count charge of forgery, fabricating evidence, using fabricated evidence and attempting to pervert the course of justice by the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC.

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, August 2, 2021, adjourned till October 22, 2021 for ruling on the no-case submission filed by Kayode Odukoya, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Nation Airways Limited, who is being prosecuted for an alleged N1.7bn fraud.
Odukoya is standing trial alongside First Nation Airways Limited and Bellview Airlines Limited on a seven-count charge bordering on forgery, use of false document, perjury, stealing and obtaining credit by fraud contrary to sections 85(1), 86(1), 278(1)&(b), 285(1), 313(1)(a) &(b),361(1)(a)& (b),363 (1) and 364(1) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
Two jailed Six Months for False Information

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, July 30, 2021 secured the conviction of the duo of Tijjani Haruna and Abdullahi Ahmed to six months imprisonment before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri on separate one-count amended charge of giving false information to operatives of the Commission.
The offence is contrary to and punishable under Sections 139 and 139 (a) of the Penal Code Laws of Borno State.
EFCC Secures Conviction of Two Land Speculators in Bauchi, Gombe

The Gombe Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has secured the conviction of two land speculators: Abdullahi Bello and Usman Abdullahi Alkas both of whom were sentenced to one year imprisonment each on separate charges for defrauding their respective victims in Gombe and Bauchi States.
Bello who was arraigned on July 28, 2021 on a five-count charge of cheating under Section 320 of the Penal Code, was convicted by Justice S.Y. Abubakar of the Gombe State High Court, Gombe, after pleading guilty to the charges.
The convict was said to have convinced his victim Abdurahman Abubakar that he had two buildings for sale at Tumfre area of Gombe state and was paid the sum of Seven Million Naira (N7, 000,000.00) which he converted to his personal use.
US Military Impostor Bags One-Year Imprisonment in Kwara

Justice Mahmood Abdulgafar of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Friday, July 30, 2021 sentenced an undergraduate, one Abdulsalam Oyeyemi, to one-year imprisonment for falsely posing as American Military Officer to defraud unsuspecting victims.
The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had on Thursday, July 29, 2021 arraigned Oyeyemi, 23, on one-count charge bordering on personation and internet fraud.
