EFCC Recovers N5.4bn for NHIS

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered N5.4billion for the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS. Professor Muhammad Nasir Sambo, Executive Secretary, NHIS, disclosed this today July 29, 2021 when he led the management of the agency on a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the EFCC, Jabi, Abuja.
“In total, the EFCC has been able to recover about N5.4billion for us out of the N12.085b that has been trapped; this is a monumental achievement and that is why we will ensure that we remain good partners to the EFCC,” he said.
Court Jails Three Oil Thieves In Port Harcourt

Justice A.T. Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has convicted and sentenced Youbowei Loveday, Kareem Fatai and Abdulsalam Taofeek to one year imprisonment each.
They were jailed on Thursday, July 29, 2021 after pleading “guilty” to one- count separate charge bordering on conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum products, consequent on their arraignment by the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC.
EFCC to Establish Anti-corruption Club at Nasarawa State University

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 offered to establish an Anti-corruption Club at the Nasarawa State University to enhance the fight against corruption among students and teachers of the institution.
Bawa made this offer while responding to a request by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Sulaiman Bala Muhammad who led a delegation on a visit to the corporate headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja.
EFCC Arrests 55 Internet Fraud Suspects in Enugu, Ebonyi.

Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested 55 suspected internet fraudsters in separate operations in Enugu and Ebonyi States. Eighteen of the suspects were arrested today July 29, 2021, at Agbani Road and Thinkers Corner areas of Enugu, Enugu State following intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet fraud.
The suspects are: John Kennedy, Onochie John Paul, Ilojeme Chiagozie, Ilechukwu Chidiebeube, Ike Ebubechukwu Emmanuel H., Otega Pafe Philip, Uzochukwu Uche Frank and Ezinwa Witness Chimere. Others are Obike William Nwabufo, Ikeja Eyerinsu, Chidindu Victory, Onwuagbaizu Paul, Tomizine Alamco, Great Oluwagbemiga, Kanu Dennis Ifeanyichukwu, Ebere Malachy, James Collins Ewenike and Ilojeme Chiemela.
Court Sends Undergraduate to Prison for N1m Fraud in Kano

The Kano Zonal Office Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today July 28, 2021 secured the conviction of one Nosa Ekhatoro before Justice Hafsat Yahaya Sani of the Kano State High Court on a two count charge of conspiracy and theft to the tune of N1,000,000 (One Million Naira) only.
The convict’s journey to prison started when the Commission received petition alleging that he alongside and one Ogie (who is still at large) conspired and stole N1,000,000 (One Million Naira) only from the bank account of the complainant through hacking.
