Court Orders Final Forfeiture of N1.3bn to FG

Justice Mohammed Mohammed of the Sokoto State High Court today Monday July 19, 2021 granted a final Order, forfeiting the sum of N1, 362,675,353.56 (One Billion, Three Hundred and Sixty Two Million, Six Hundred and Seventy Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Three Naira, Fifty Six Kobo) to the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The Judge had on July 2, 2021 granted an interim Order of forfeiture of the said amount following an exparte application by the Commission and directed that the order be published in a national newspaper for any one with interest in the said asset to show cause, why it should not be finally forfeited the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos has fixed September 9, 2021 to rule on the no-case submission filed by Fidelis Umukoro who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for an alleged N164million fraud.
Umukoro who was arraigned on February 11, 2020 alongside his company Raremax Global Investments Limited on a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
Man Arraigned for Allegedly Stealing N10m in Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, July 19, 2021 arraigned one Ibrahim Yuguda before Justice Maryam Sabo of the Kano State High Court on a one count charge of criminal breach of trust.
The charge read that “You Ibrahim Yuguda between April 2018 and February 2019 at Kano within the jurisdiction of the Kano State High Court being entrusted with certain property to wit: the sum of N10, 800,000 (Ten Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) only property of Mohammed Ibrahim did dishonestly misappropriated the money and thereby committed an offense contrary to section 311 of the Penal Code and punishable under section 312 of the same Law”.
Court Jails Oil Truck Driver Two Years in Port Harcourt.

Justice P. M. Ayuba of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has convicted and sentenced an oil truck driver: Samuel Obameiye to two years imprisonment for transportation of illegal petroleum products.
He was jailed on Friday, July 16, 2021 after pleading guilty to one- count charge bordering on illegal dealing in petroleum products upon his arraignment by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
N29billion Fraud: You Have a Case to Answer, Court tells Ex- Gov. Nyako

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, July 19, 2021 ruled that a former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, has a case to answer in the N29 billion fraud charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Nyako is being prosecuted by the EFCC alongside his son, Abdul-Aziz, two companies, Sebore Farms and Extension Ltd and Pagado Fortunes Ltd, as well as Zulkifik Abba, Abubakar Aliyu, Blue Opal Ltd, Tower Assets Management Ltd, and Crust Energy Ltd on 37-count charges of criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office, and money laundering.
