Two Bag One Year Jail Term for N3.9m Employment Scam in Gombe

Justice J. Awak of the Gombe State High Court, Gombe, on July 13 and 14, 2021 convicted and sentenced the duo of Mohammed Sani Dabo and Abdullahi Sarki Adamu to one year imprisonment each, on two separate counts of criminal misappropriation of the sums of N2,500,000.00 (Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) and N1,440,000.00 (One Million, Four Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira) respectively.
The first convict, Dabo sometime in June 2019 collected the total sum of N2,500.00 from one Abubakar Bala Ibrahim with the promise of securing a senior cadre job for him at National Space Research and Development Agency of Nigeria.
NIPOST, EFCC to Strengthen Collaboration

The Post Master General and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, Ismail Adebayo Adewusi on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 reiterated his desire to strengthen ties with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for the mutual benefit of the Agencies.
Adewusi who stated this during a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, noted that the NIPOST has over the years, worked closely with the EFCC. “We have recovered many financial instruments, including fake Credit Cards and counterfeit currencies, which were impounded and returned to the EFCC.”
EFCC Arraigns Man For N9m Land Fraud In Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, on July 14, 2021, arraigned one Johnson Ofortube on a two-count charge bordering on stealing and obtaining by false pretence before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State.
One of the counts reads: "Johnson Ofortube, on or about the 29th day of July 2010 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, stole and fraudulently converted the sum of N9,000,000 (Nine Million Naira), property of Sir George Obinna Ihetu entrusted to you as the purchase price of two and half plots of land lying, being and situate at New Okota Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (L.S.P.D.C.) of Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State."
EFCC Charges KWASU Students On Integrity, Hard work

The Zonal Head of Ilorin Office of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Usman Muktar, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 charged students of the Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete, to embrace the culture of integrity, hard work and national pride.
He expressed optimism that, “Nigeria would overcome the present challenges posed by corruption and other forms of crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery and cybercrime once Nigerians youths realise their potentials and channel it productively for the good of all.”
Two Bag Two Years for N25.7m Pension Fraud in Maiduguri

Justice Umaru Fadawu of the Borno State High Court sitting Maiduguri, on July 12, 2021 convicted the duo of Mohammed Nazir Auwalu and Sani Musa for offences bordering on criminal misappropriation to the tune of N25, 780, 888.38 (Twenty Five Million, Seven Hundred and Eighty Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Eight Naira, Thirty Eight Kobo), contrary to Section 308 and Punishable under Section 309 of the Penal Code Cap. 102 Laws of Borno State.
The defendants who have never held any pensionable appointment, received the sum as pension from the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) from September 2010 to April 2018. The lid on the scam was blown by Polaris Bank which reported the fraud to the Commission.
