Zaura’s Application Stall $1.3m Fraud Trial

The trial of Abdulsalam Saleh Abdulkarim also known as AA Zaura before Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa of the Federal High Court could not go on today, May 2, due to an application filed by the defendant asking for a stay of proceedings.
Zaura was arraigned by the EFCC on March 1, 2023 for allegedly defrauding a Kuwaiti citizen to the tune of $1,320,000 (One Million Three Hundred and Twenty Thousand Dollars) under the guise that he was into real estate business in Dubai and other countries.

EFCC Arrests 18 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Enugu

Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Monday, May 1, 2023, arrested eighteen suspected internet fraudsters in different locations within Enugu.
The suspects include one Chigozie Philips, founder of Holy Family School Abakpa, Enugu, where he allegedly trains prospective cybercriminals. Thirteen of his proteges who were arrested in the sting operation are Kingsley Okorie, Henry Chidiebere, Elochukwu Chukwuemeka Micheal, Nelson Nnaji, Joacin Kelvin, Kelechi Ibe, Chinonso James, Udeh Isaiah and Micheal Chukwuemeka.

The Department of State Services, DSS, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, as well as Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency, KASTLEA, have all commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for its professionalism and enhanced public enlightenment in the fight against corruption and economic and financial crimes.
The EFCC received the commendations during familiarization visits by the acting Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Kaduna, ACE II Aisha Abubakar, to the heads of these agencies, recently.

Use Investigative Reporting to Expose Corrupt Practices- Bawa Charges Journalists

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa on Thursday, April 27, 2023 called on journalists in the Northeast to be proactive and use the tools of investigative journalism to expose corrupt practices, especially money laundering and financing of terrorism.
Bawa who spoke through ACE Oshodi Johnson, Commander, Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Commission, at a one day workshop on Effective Reporting of Economic and Financial Crimes for Journalists covering the activities of the Commission, urged the participants to be alive to their responsibilities as members of the fourth estate of the realm and ask questions where corrupt practices were suspected.

EFCC Arrests 19 Akwa Ibom Varsity Students for Alleged Internet Fraud.

Nineteen Undergraduates of Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat-Enin, were on Friday, April 28, 2023, arrested by operatives of the Uyo Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for suspected internet- related offences.
They were arrested at their private hostels: Obong Abasi Lodge and Mfon Obong Lodge both located at Ikot Akpadem in Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
