EFCC, NDA to Collaborate on Cybersecurity

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa on Wednesday, 23 November, 2022 restated the desire of the Commission to intensify its training collaboration with the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA especially in the area of cybersecurity to tackle emerging threats.
He stated this when he received Major Gen. I.M Yusuf, Commandant NDA at the Commission`s headquarters, Abuja.
While expressing gratitude to the NDA for coming to the aid of the Commission in 2016 and 2017 in training the highest number of cadets ever assembled for a course in the EFCC, Bawa commended NDA’s interest in Cybersecurity.
EFCC Secures 3328 Convictions in 11 Months- Bawa

Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Abdulrasheed Bawa on Thursday, November 24, 2022 disclosed that the Commission has secured 3328 convictions so far in the course of the year.
He made this disclosure in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while declaring open a one-day Training Workshop on Financial Crimes Reporting for Journalists, in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria. According to him, the EFCC has secured 3328 convictions as at November 18, 2022 and got the court to forfeit the sum of N755million recovered from a former Accountant- General of the Federation, three luxury properties from Colonel Bello Fadile (retd), former aide to former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
"We also secured interim forfeiture of 40 assets in Nigeria, United States of America, London and Dubai belonging to former deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. Two weeks earlier, another court issued a final forfeiture order of two properties within Abuja belonging to Diezani Alison- Madueke, former minister of petroleum resources. These are just a few of the assets recovered for the Federal Government of Nigeria alone. From January to November 18, 2022, EFCC has recorded 3328 convictions."

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, November 24, 2022 secured the conviction of one Daniel Atekojo James, who claimed to be a female Black American on Snapchat and one Atadoga Samuel from Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State for offences bordering on internet related fraud before Justice Sani of the Federal High Court, Ilorin.
Daniel, 28 and Atadoga, 18 were arrested on June 3, 2022 at Lokoja following actionable intelligence on their fraudulent activities.
The convicts, who were prosecuted separately on one count charge pleaded guilty to their respective charge.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, November 24, 2022, arrested the duo of Onochie Kaykay Mokwenye and Abdullahi Adamu, alleged members of a ruthless syndicate of land racketeers terrorizing prospective property owners in Abuja.
They were arrested based on verified intelligence linking them to several land frauds, where victims were dispossessed of their hard-earned money in land transactions, using fake documents.

The All Progressives Congress, APC senatorial candidate for Kano Central, Abdulsalam Sale Abdulkarim aka A.A Zaura has lost his bid to stop his corruption trial as the Supreme Court on Thursday November 24, 2022 struck out his two applications to stop the Federal High Court, Kano, from trying him. In dismissing the applications, the apex court further directed the APC senatorial candidate to appear before the Federal High Court Kano to face the charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Zaura is being accused by the Commission for defrauding a Kuwaiti Citizen of the sum of $1,320,000 (One Million Three Hundred and Twenty Thousand Dollars) under the pretext that he is in the business of building properties in Dubai, Kuwait and other Arab countries.
