Lagos Court Jails Lawyer Two Years for N4 million Fraud

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, has convicted and sentenced a legal practitioner, Taiwo Oreagba, to two years imprisonment for obtaining the sum of N4,000, 000( Four Million Naira) from a client to secure the release of a suspect from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
She was jailed on Thursday, August 25, 2022 after standing trial on two-count charges bordering on corrupt demand and obtaining money under false pretences.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has urged members of the Anti-corruption Community Development Service Group of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to embrace hard work and avoid involvement in cybercrime and other types of economic and financial crimes.
Commandant of the EFCC Academy, Ayo Olowonihi, gave the charge during a sensitization programme at the Karu Local Government Secretariat, Nasarawa State on Friday, August 26, 2022.
Olowonihi who was represented by the Head, Media Academy, Assistant Commander of EFCC, Chidimma Amanambu urged corps members to “be dedicated in whatever you are assigned to do during your service because you never know how far you can grow as a result of your commitment”.
EFCC Arrests 10 Internet Fraud Suspects in Abuja

Operatives of the Abuja Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters. The suspects were arrested on August 25, 2022, in a sting operation at various locations in Kubwa and Gwarimpa areas of Abuja for alleged involvement in cyber-fraud.
Among items recovered from them at the point of arrest are mobile phones, laptop computers and three luxury cars- a Mercedes Benz CLA 250, Mercedes Benz GLK 350 and Toyota Venza.
EFCC to Tackle Illegal Mining, Non-payment of Royalties in Kwara

The Commander, Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Michael Nzekwe, has hinted on the Commission’s preparedness to strengthen the existing collaboration between it and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in tackling illegal mining and non-payment of royalties by miners in Kwara State.
He made this disclosure on Thursday, August 25, 2022 while playing host to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Ibrahim Muhammed who was at the Commission on a familiarization visit.
EFCC Secures Eight Convictions in Ibadan

The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, August 25, 2022, secured eight convictions in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The convicts, Bambgbose Temitayo Abiodun (a.k.a Scott Buchanan), Adebayo Sodik (Trisha Patterson), Yekini Ismail Omokayode, Ayoade Taofeek Adekunle (a.k.a Jessica Weaver),Taiwo Babalola Oluwatope(a.k.a Bram Sem),Ibrahim Ayinla Ajadi (a.k.a Chris Young),Sodiq Razaq Olamilekan (a.k.a Daren Amanda) and Adams Rasaq Lekan (a.k.a Angelina Gomez) were prosecuted before Justices Bayo Taiwo and Olusola Adetujoye of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan.
They all pleaded guilty to their respective one count charge.
