The attention of the Commission has been drawn to a so-called “exclusive’’ news report making the rounds on social media to the effect that the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa and former Chairman of the defunct Skye Bank, Mr. Tunde Ayeni, are travelling together, abroad, on a clandestine, self-serving mission.
The story, which vainly tries to push a certain malodorous agenda, is absolutely FALSE.
If it were not for its potential to confound and confuse the unwary, the Commission would have ignored the story. However, there is every need to set the facts straight.
Court Sends Eight Internet Fraudsters to Jail in Kaduna

Justice Nasiru U. Sadiq of the Kaduna State High court has convicted and sentenced eight internet fraudsters to various terms of imprisonment for internet-related offences, cheating and impersonation.
The fraudsters: Jimoh Hamza, David Joseph, Osondu Obinna Stanley, Praise Yusuf, Ashiru Adamu, Abdulwasiu Yunus, Yusuf Buhari and Joseph Jerry were jailed on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 after pleading guilty to one-count separate charge bordering on impersonation and cheating, upon their arraignment by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The one count charge for David Joseph reads,: “That you David Joseph Adoyi, on or about the 11th of August, 2022, at Goni Gora axis of Kaduna, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court and in such assumed character impersonated one Mark Johnson (an American citizen) via your Instagram account and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 142(1) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
EFCC Arrests 41 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Awka

Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested forty-one (41) suspected internet fraudsters in Awka, Anambra State.
They were arrested on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 following actionable intelligence on their alleged involvement in cyber crimes and other related activities.
Sixteen(16) of the suspects were arrested at Umuodu Tansi Road, Awka, Anambra State while the remaining 25 were arrested at Umudu Okpuno Village,Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
NYSC’s Group Unveils Billboard Against Corruption in Yenogoa.

A Community Development Service, CDS, group of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has erected and unveiled a billboard to support the anti-corruption campaign of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The billboard, erected at the busy Opolo market junction, Yenogoa, Bayelsa State, was initiated and constructed by corps members in the NYSC’s EFCC/ICPC CDS Group. Out-going President of the CDS group, Busayo Adepoju said that her group embarked on the project to educate the masses in Bayelsa on the need to shun corruption and offer the public correct interpretation of the mandates of the EFCC and ICPC. “Erecting the billboard is to create awareness for the people. The billboard glows at night and will help us relate the anti-corruption message more”, she said.
Several messages are printed on the billboard. Some of them are: “Say No to any form of bribery and corruption”, “See something, Say something”, “ Nigerian Youths Reject Corruption”, among others.
EFCC Arrests 13 Suspected Illegal Miners In Ilorin.

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in collaboration with the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development have arrested thirteen (13) suspected illegal miners operating in Kakafu village in Pategi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The suspects are, Buba Mohammed, Yusuf Umar, Surajo Shehu, Abubakar Abdullahi, Salisu Mohammed, Quadri Sulaiman and Nwafor Chinonso.
Others are: Abdullahi Isa, Mustapha Mohammed, Buhari Hassan, Basiru Jafaru, Murtala Jafaru and Jafaru Abdullahi.
