The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa is in Nigeria’s delegation, attending the 89th Interpol General Assembly which commenced on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in Turkey.
The Nigerian delegation to the event which ends on Thursday, November 25, 2021, is led by the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi. Others in the delegation are the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Interpol, Garba Baba Umar and the representative of Nigeria Immigration Service.
FIRS Fraud: How N2bn was Siphoned Through DTA- Witness

The ongoing trial of Emmanuella Eteta Ita, Head of Stakeholders Unit of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, and Surestart School Limited continued on November 22, 2021 before Justice F. Giwa Ogunbanjo of the Federal High Court, Abuja with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC presenting two more witnesses.
The fourth prosecuting witness, Ijeoma Matilda, an operative of the EFCC, while being led in evidence by prosecuting counsel, Ekele Iheanacho, told the court that sometime in November 2015, the Commission received an intelligence report alleging that the former Coordinating Director of the FIRS, Peter Hena conspired with the first defendant using staff of the unit to siphon money from the FIRS through Duty Tour Allowances, DTA, to the tune of over 2bn.

The Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday November 23, 2021 secured the conviction of Aguigwo Casmire Chikamso and Muhammad Ibrahim on one count charge of fraudulent impersonation before Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of the Edo State High Court, Benin City, Edo State.
The defendants had sometimes between January and April, 2021 impersonated the identities of foreign nationals with the intent to defraud unsuspecting ladies of their hard-earned money, contrary to section 484 of the Criminal Code Law Cap 48, Laws of Bendel State of Nigeria (As applicable in Edo State) 1976 and punishable under the same Law.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Uyo Zonal Command, on Monday, November 22, 2021, secured the conviction of four fraudsters before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Calabar, Cross River State for cyber-fraud related offences.
The defendants: John Stephen Oluebube (a.k.a NG Okpara), Emmanuel Alabuike Chiagozie (alias Diego Carlos), Chukwu Prince Ebuka (a.k.a Voilet Chukwu) and Emmanuel Chibuike Ndu (alias Shikin Nuru), pleaded guilty to separate one count charge preferred against them by the Commission.
Court Jails Two Oil Thieves In Port Harcourt.

Justice P. I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has convicted and sentenced two oil thieves to two years imprisonment each, for dealing in petroleum products without an appropriate license.
The convicts: Uba Promise and Ikechukwu Christian were convicted on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, after pleading "guilty" to one count separate charge preferred against them by the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The lone count charge read: "That you Uba Promise and Ekele Ekibor (still at large) on or about the 1st day of August, 2021 at Nigeria Port Authority, Onne, Port Harcourt, Rivers State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court without lawful authority to deal in petroleum products, dealt in forty five thousand litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), laden in a Mark Tanker Truck with registration number: Lagos KEK 166 XA and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (17) (a) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap M17, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and punishable under Section 1(17) (b) of the same Act.
