Internet Fraudster Jailed Six Months in Kaduna

The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, November 4, 2021 secured the conviction of Muhammed Kabir before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna on a one count amended charge of cheating by impersonation.
The defendant who was arrested in the Barnawa area for alleged internet related fraud activities, presented himself on a Gay website as a US citizen and used the fake profile to induce unsuspecting victims to confer benefits on him. Before he was nabbed, he had obtained the sum of $1,150 USD from his victims.

The Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC today November 3, 2021 charged students of tertiary institutions to be good ambassadors by blowing the whistle against corruption whenever they see any acts that fail the simple test of integrity.
The Ag Zonal Commander, Ude.Nkechi. Rita stated this while welcoming students of Benson Idahosa University, Edo State on a visit to the Command.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has called on Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, across the country to be more actively involved in the fight against corruption.
This call was made on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, by the Head, Public Affairs Directorate, Port Harcourt's Zonal Command of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Dele Oyewale, at a Workshop on " Cost of Corruption in Benefits Transfer to Artisinal Miners in the Niger Delta Region", organised by BudgIT.
Court Reserves Ruling on Final Forfeiture of $899,600 till Jan 31, 2022

Justice Zainab Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, today Wednesday November 3, 2021 reserved ruling on the application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, asking for the final forfeiture of the sum of $899,600 (Eight Hundred Ninety-nine Thousand, Six Hundred Dollars), till January 31, 2022
Justice F. Giwa Ogunbanjo had on December 4, 2019 ordered the interim forfeiture of the sum upon an ex parte application by the EFCC, which asked that the money recovered from an apartment at Sigma Apartment, No 1 Embu Street, off Aminu Kano Crescent Wuse 2, Abuja be forfeited to the Federal Government, being suspected proceeds of illicit activities.

The Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today November 3, 2021 secured the conviction of one Balogun Mayowa (aka James) on one count charge bordering on fraudulent impersonation before Justice S. M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court, Benin-City, Edo State.
Mayowa had sometime in April 2021 in Owo, Ondo State, with intent to defraud impersonated the identity of one James ( a white man ) and sent documents through the internet to unsuspecting ladies, claiming the documents emanated from the said James in contravention of section 22(2)(b)(ii) of the Cybercrime ( Prohibition, Prevention, Etc) Act 2015 and punishable under same Act”.
