The new Commissioner of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, (FCID), Enugu, Mr. Aliyu Adamu Alhaji on Thursday October 14, 2021 pledged greater commitment to improving the synergy between the specialised arm of the Nigeria Police Force and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in fighting crime in Nigeria. The Police Commissioner who was speaking during a courtesy visit to the Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC, assured the Command of his unalloyed support. “I and my management team are here to familiarize with you and, as the highest investigating body, we are here to show our support and seek cooperation in investigation and intelligence sharing. Synergy is important between the two organisations; so feel free to call upon us whenever you require our assistance. We are children of the same father, so we must work together to please our father - Nigeria,” he said.
N20bn Kogi State Salary Bail-out Loan: Court Grants EFCC’s Application

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, October 15, 2021, granted the application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, seeking to discontinue the matter in Suit No. FHC/L/ CS, 1086/2021 involving the N20bn Kogi State Salary bail-out loan. The application, according to the Commission’s counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, is sequel to the decision of the management of Sterling Bank Plc to return the total sum of N19, 333,333,333.36 standing in the credit of the frozen account back to the Central Bank of Nigeria.
On August 31, 2021, Justice Tijani Garba Ringim, a vacation Judge, had ordered the freezing of the account, following an ex-parte application filed by the EFCC.
Woman Bags One Year for N5m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Uyo Zonal Command on Thursday October 14, 2021 secured the conviction and sentencing of one Anne Felix Idiong before Justice T. B. Adegoke of the Federal High Court Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for forgery and falsely presenting herself as the special assistant to the wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor and defrauding her victim of the sum of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000).
Her victim alleged that she approached her in September 2020 and introduced herself as a cousin and special assistant to the wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state, and later defrauded her of the said sum on the pretext of facilitating a contract for the supply of Agro products and farm animals which she claimed emanated from the state government.
Court Jails Woman Three Years for N6.2m Scam in Bauchi

Justice. K. Sambo of the Bauchi State High Court, Bauch has convicted and sentenced one Amina Lawal Yahaya Gumau (aka. Amina Jauro) to three years imprisonment on a three- count charge of cheating and forgery to the tune of N6,200,000 ( Six Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira) brought against her by the Gombe Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
She pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against her, leading to her conviction and sentencing.
Ex-Niger Governor: Witnesses Narrates How Defendants withdrew N800m with 80 Cheques

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, present two more witnesses against former Niger state Governor, Muazu Babangida Aliyu and two others: Tanko Beji and Umar Nasko, in their ongoing money laundering trial before Justice Mikail Aliyu of the Niger State High Court, Minna. The defendants are being prosecuted for diversion of about Two Billion Naira Ecological Fund.
The two witnesses, Muhammed Nma Abubakar, third prosecution witness, PW3, and Isaac Gado, fourth prosecution witness (PW4) , both staff of Zenith Bank Plc, narrated how 80 cheques drawn in the name of Saidu Nma were cashed and the proceeds delivered to one of the defendant, Umar Nasko, who was Chief of Staff to Babangida Aliyu as governor of Niger State.
