Five Jailed for ATM Card Fraud in Kano

Justice Zuwaira Yusuf of the Kano State High Court has convicted and sentenced Salim Mohammed Sarki, Sani M. Auwalu, Bashir Bashir Nasidi, Aliyu Mika'il Muhammed and Yahaya Abdullahi Abubakar (Shoki) to two weeks imprisonment for conspiring to steal the sum of N1, 398,972.19.
The convicts’ journey to prison started when the Commission received a petition, alleging that an account was opened in his name in a new generation bank without his knowledge or consent. The petitioner further alleged that the said account was being used to perpetrate fraud, adding that he.
was arrested by the police upon his arrival at Jaiz Bank to conduct a transaction and subsequently charged to court.
Alleged 2.8bn Fraud: Court Orders Arrest of NAMA MD, Pwajok for Contempt

Justice Babs Kuewumi of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has ordered the arrest of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Authority, NAMA, Mathew Pwajok, for disobedience to court order.
The Judge had, sometime in July, 2022 issued a subpoena against Pwajok, ordering him to make available some documents in the ongoing trial of a former Managing Director of NAMA, Ibrahim Abdulsalami, and others for an alleged N2.8bn fraud.
Abdulsalam is facing trial alongside Nnamdi Udoh (still at large), Adegorite Olumuyiwa, Segun Agbolade, Clara Aliche, Joy Ayodele Adegorite, Randville Invesment Limited and Multeng Travels and Tours Limited for conspiring to induce the agency to deliver the sum of N2.8billion to Delosa Limited, Air Sea Delivery Limited and Sea Schedule Systems Limited on the pretext that the money represented the cost of clearing NAMA's consignments.
EFCC Docks Driver for Alleged Illegal Mining Activities in Kwara

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 arraigned a 46-year-old truck driver, Kasimu Bawa, for offences bordering on illegal mining and possession of minerals without lawful authority.
Mining without license is a criminal offence and an act of economic sabotage.
Kasimu was prosecuted on amended one-count charge before Justice Muhammed Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin.
Alleged N1.4bn Oil Fraud: Court To Rule on Nadabo Energy Boss’ Application Nov.29

Justice C.A. Balogun of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, adjourned till November 29, 2022 for ruling on the application filed by Abubakar Peter Ali, owner of Nadabo Energy Limited, seeking the trial Judge to recuse himself from continuing to sit on the alleged N1.4bn oil case on the basis of bias.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is prosecuting Abubakar and his company on a 27-count charge for allegedly using forged documents to obtain the sum of N1,464,961,978.24 from the Federal Government as oil subsidy, after allegedly inflating the quantity of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, purportedly imported and supplied by the company.
N1.4bn Bank Fraud: EFCC Arrests Kogi Assembly Candidate with N326m, $610,500 Cash

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested the Kogi State House of Assembly candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi with N326million and $ 140,500 cash.
Atumeyi who is seeking to represent Ankpa 11 Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly was arrested on Sunday, October 30, 2022 alongside one Joshua Dominic, an alleged serial fraudster, in a sting operation at Macedonia Street, Queens Estate, Karsana, Gwarinpa, Abuja.
Also arrested in connection with the Fraud is Abdumalik Salau Femi, a former bank employee, who allegedly supplied the inside information that facilitated the attack on the bank by the syndicate. He was picked up on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lagos. Following his arrest, a search was conducted on his home in Morgan Estate, Ojodu where a total of $470,000 USD was recovered.
