Court Sends Two Internet Fraudsters to Jail in Benin City

Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of Edo State High Court, Benin City, on Tuesday, November 2, 2022, convicted and sentenced two internet. Fraudsters, Onyeka Sunday and Idemudia Endurance Ehigie, to three years imprisonment each for fraud
They were arraigned on one count charge of personation and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents by the Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC.
The charge against Ehigie reads: 'that you, Idemudia Endurance Ehigie between January to September 2022 in Benin City, Edo State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did fraudulently personate the identity of one Huang Kim on WhatsApp business account and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 484 of the Criminal Code Law Cap.48 Laws of Bendel State of Nigeria (as applicable to Edo State)1976 and punishable under the same Law”.

Naira Redesign: Bawa Engages Banks’ Compliance Officers, BDC Operators in Lagos

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has sought greater collaboration and partnership with the Association of Chief Compliance Officers of Banks in Nigeria, ACCOBIN, as well as Bureau De Change( BDC) operators as a way of tackling foreign exchange malpractices, money laundering and other fraudulent activities in the nation’s financial sector,.
Bawa who made the appeal during a meeting with critical stakeholders in the financial services sector on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Lagos Command of the Commission, on the heels of the recent announcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to re-design and re-issue some of Naira notes, called for prompt disclosure of fraudulent activities through the exchange of relevant information about illicit deposits and movement of money through deposit money banks.
“In view of the recent move by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to redesign and re-issue higher denominations of the Nigerian Currency, the Naira, there is a need for us to be proactive and be circumspect of the actions of the criminals who will use the financial institutions to launder illicit funds and commit other nefarious activities.
EFCC Arraigns Land Racketeer in Maiduguri

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 arraigned one Ibrahim Ahmed before Justice Umaru Fadawu of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri on a one count further amended charge for the offence of cheating to the tune of N850,000.00 (Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).
He allegedly used fake documents to obtain the sum from Mohammed Ali Tijjani over a plot of with number 78 OTP/159EXT. 01 in Maiduguri.
EFCC FC Lifts Unity Tournament Cup

The Football team of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC FC has emerged champion of the Unity Pre-season Tournament.
The victory came for the team on Saturday, October 29, 2022 in a penalty shootout that saw the EFCC FC thrashed Nassarawa United 4-3 at the Area 3 Football Field, Garki, Abuja.
Football fans thronged the field in large numbers cheering as the EFCC opened the scoring in the 7th minute after an infringement in the opposition’s box , which resulted in a penalty converted by EFCC’s Masoud Danjuma.
