Alleged Forgery of Medical Report: Court Threatens Bench Warrant Against Fani-Kayode, Adjourns Till Nov 7

Justice O.O. Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, threatened to issue a bench warrant against Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, over his “constant non-appearance” in court on grounds of ill health for his alleged forgery trial.
Fani-Kayode, who is also being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for an alleged N4.9billion fraud before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, is facing a 12 count- charge before Justice Abike-Fadipe, following his alleged use of forged medical report(s), which he tendered at the Federal High Court to justify his absence in court.

N3.1bn Fraud: Court Adjourns Ex- Gov Suswam’s Trial Again

Justice A.R Mohammed of the Federal High Court Abuja has again adjourned the trial of former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam alongside his former Commissioner of Finance, Omadachi Okolobia, to June 8, 2023 to enable the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, tender a fresh Exhibit P6 before the court.
Exhibit p6 was earlier tendered before the court, but because of the movement of the case from Justice Mohammed to Justice Okon Abang of the same jurisdiction, some portions of the documents from page 41-98 got missing from the records of the court. However, prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacob, SAN’s record is intact and prayed the court to allow him use the copy to proceed with the trial, but defence counsel , J. B. Daudu , SAN, and Paul Erokoro, SAN objected, insisting that the prosecution continue with the case or tender the remaining documents as new exhibits. They also proposed that the case be adjourned for the prosecution to re-present the missing documents.

The football club of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC FC on Saturday, May 21, 2023, defeated ABS FC of Kwara State 2 goals to 1 in Ogomosho, Oyo State, to move to the second place on the Nigerian National League, NNL, log.
If EFCC FC overcome Mighty Jets of Jos in their next encounter, they will climb to the top of the table and automatically qualify to play the Nigeria Professional Football league (NPLF) playoff with the possibility of being among the top four that will book a spot in the professional league next season.

Alleged $5m Fraud: Court Adjourns Trial of Pilot, Businessman Till May 31

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, adjourned till May 31, 2023 further hearing in the trial of the duo of Victor Uadiale and Capt. Everest Nnaji over an alleged $5m fraud.
The defendants are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for an amended five-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of $5 million.
Justice Dada had, on March 23, 2023 ,dismissed the no-case submission filed by the defendants as lacking merit and also ordered them to open their defence today( May 24, 2023).
