Court Rejects Defendant’s Bail Application In Alleged $1.4million Fraud Trial

Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, refused to admit one Kolawole Adedayo Erinle, who is facing trial over an alleged $1.4m fraud, to bail.
Erinle and his company, Rinde-Remdex Nigeria Limited, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, retention of proceeds of criminal conduct, and obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of $1,410,000 (One Million Four-Hundred and Ten Thousand United States Dollars).

Justice Tijani Ringim of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has ordered the interim forfeiture of the sum of N725,345,897.77 and a property situated at Plot J 37A 218 Close, 2nd Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos linked to Patrick Akpobolokemi, a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.
The Judge gave the Order, following a motion ex parte filed and argued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Hadiza Suleiman today April 4, 2023, convicted and sentenced one Ahmad Sultan Sardauna to four years imprisonment for offences bordering on conspiracy and forgery.
Sultan was arraigned by the Commission alongside one Emmanuel Tunde sometime in November 2022.for forging documents in an attempt to defraud a Somali to the tune of $4,661 under the guise of securing job for him at the United Nations.

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 secured the conviction and sentencing of one Baba Mohammed, before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri.
Baba was prosecuted on one count amended charge of cheating to the tune of Three Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira (N310, 000.00).

The Maiduguri Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, April 3, 2023, arraigned the duo of Alhaji Kolo Ngwari and Mele Isma’il before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri, on four-counts of cheating and criminal breach of trust to the tune of N1, 650,000.00 (One Million Six Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).
