We 'll Fight Corruption with Rule of Law- Bawa

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa on April 10, 2021 reiterated the Commission's commitment to fighting corruption within the ambits of the law.
The anti graft Czar who spoke in Kano, during his maiden visit to the Kano Zonal Office of the EFCC, recalled that, what distinguished the Commission at inception was strict adherence to the Rule of Law.
“There were no new laws that other law enforcement agencies were not empowered to enforce; the only thing that made EFCC unique, is adherence to the rule of law.
''We allow the law to take its cause. Once someone cross the line, we will do our job with civility and charge them to court to answer for their crime,” he said.
EFCC Arrests Man for Alleged N800m Fraud in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC , have arrested one Adeleke Adeyemi for his involvement in an alleged case of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, diversion of funds, issuance of dud cheques and money laundering to the tune of N800,000.000.00( Eight Hundred Million Naira).
Adeyemi, together with his accomplice, Odusanya Ayotunde Memphis (now at large), in their capacities as directors at Wafa Aggregate Limited, allegedly approached Eco Bank Plc for a loan facility of N800million for the procurement of petroleum products from Covalent Oil & Gas Services Limited in October, 2011.
Upon receipt of the loan facility, Adeyemi and Memphis allegedly diverted the funds to their personal use and defaulted in paying back the loan.
Religious Bodies Important in Fight Against Corruption - Bawa

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Abdulrasheed Bawa says religious bodies have important role to play in the fight against Corruption.
He stated this on April 8, 2021 at the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja while opening the meeting of the Inter-faith Anti- Corruption Advisory Committee, IAAC.
The Chairman who was represented by Director of Legal and Prosecution, Chile Okoroma, said “I believe strongly that as religious leaders and bodies, you have a critical and prominent role to play in the EFCC’s corruption prevention mandate”.
He charged the Committee to develop initiatives aimed at fighting corruption in the two major religions: Christianity and Islam, stating that “The fight must be from all fronts.”
Bawa Charges Staff To Maintain Core Values In Tackling Graft

Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa has charged staff of the Commission to adhere to the virtues of courage, integrity and professionalism, which are the core values of the Commission, in tackling economic and financial crimes.
He stated this on Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State while addressing staff of the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the EFCC. According to him, the task of combating economic and financial crimes requires that extant laws are enforced as they should and for staff of the Commission to do this, they must adhere to the core values of the EFCC.
"Leaders of the EFCC should enforce the laws the way they are expected to be enforced. If you cross the line, the EFCC will investigate you and take you to court. But above all, we must do this with "courage, integrity and professionalism which are the core values of the Commission and these are the values we should maintain", he said.
He tasked every staff of the Zone to be prepared to take the EFCC to the next level, stressing that taking responsibilities for actions and inactions was imperative. " We know what is expected of us. We should be ready to take the Commission to the next level", he said. He assured every staff of equal opportunity in the area of welfare, placement and acceptance, stressing that "each of us is important. We should always work as a team and there should be no dichotomy of any kind".
Anti-graft War: Nigerians Are Looking Up To Us - EFCC Chair

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, today Thursday April 8, 2021 visited the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Commission with a message for the staff to be hardworking and devoted to work as Nigerians are looking up to them for success in the fight against corruption.
According to him, “as the saying goes, the eagle is now in the hands of the EFCC but the mission and the vision of the Commission remain the same. Therefore, I urge you to be committed to your job. Always do what is right and guard against wrongdoing.”
The anti-corruption czar who described his visit to the Zone as homecoming of sorts, having previously served as head of the Zone in his illustrious career, thanked staff of the zone for their support and prayers since he emerged as Executive Chairman.
He urged the staff to join him in moving the EFCC to the next level. “The Ibadan zonal office is one of the offices I love. I hope you will maintain it and be on top of your game. If the story of my life is not an inspiration to you as officers, nothing will. I want you to join me to steer the ship to another level”, he said.
