Galaxy Backbone Seeks EFCC’s Collaboration on Cyber Security, Training

Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Professor Muhammad Bello Abubakar has called for a working relationship and active collaboration between his Agency and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the areas of training and cyber security.
He made the call in Abuja on Monday, March 27, 2023 while on a courtesy visit to the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa at the Corporate Headquarters of the Commission.

The new Lagos Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, ACE 11 Michael Wetkas, has urged officers in the Command to always demonstrate professionalism and diligence in the discharge of their duties.
Wetkas, who took over from ACE 11 Ahmed Ghali, who has been deployed to the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the EFCC, gave the charge on Monday, March 27, 2023 during his inaugural meeting with the staff of the Command.

The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, March 24, 2023, arraigned one Mamman Nasir Ali, son of Ahmadu Ali, a former Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and one Christian Taylor before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos for an alleged N2.2 billion oil subsidy fraud.
They were arraigned alongside Nasaman Oil Services Limited on an amended 49-count charge bordering on conspiracy to obtaining money by false pretense, contrary to Section 8 and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006; obtaining money by false pretenses, contrary to Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006; forgery, contrary to Section 363 (3)(j) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011; and use of false documents contrary to Section 364 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

Court Convicts Woman for N47m Fraud in Lagos

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, March 27, 2023, convicted one Adanu Blessing Ajumi, who was prosecuted for N47m fraud.
Adanu, who is accused of trading under the name and style of Emerald Multipurpose Cooperative Society to defraud her victims in a purported agribusiness scheme, was charged with two counts bordering on obtaining money by false pretense, contrary to Section 1(1) and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006, and stealing, contrary to Section 278 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2011.

Alleged N754.8m Fraud: Court Rules on Ex-NIMASA D-G, Akpobolokemi’s No-case Submissions May 5

Justice R.I.B Adebiyi of the State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday, March 24, 2023, adjourned till May 5, 2023 for ruling on the No-case submission filed by the duo of Patrick Akpobolokemi, a former Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, and Ezekiel Bala Agaba, a former Executive Director, NIMASA, who are standing trial for an alleged N754.8 million fraud.
Akpobolokemi and Agaba were initially charged alongside Governor Juan, Vincent Udoye, Ekene Nwakuche, Adegboyega Olopoenia and a company, Gama Marine Nigeria Ltd., before the charge was amended to involve only both of them.
